Why Should A Business Use Email Marketing?

It is a great way to build brand awareness. Email marketing allows a company to reach potential customers who may not be familiar with the products or services the company has to offer.

Another reason to use it is that companies can easily communicate with existing customers to let them know about new products or services.

Is email marketing just for certain types of businesses?

No. Any business can use email marketing. I get emails from Staples and Amazon, and from my doctor and my accountant. I also receive emails from companies I have contacted that offer services I am interested in.

What are the benefits for the business and for their customers?

For the business, email marketing is a way to reach out to existing customers with new offerings or to let customers know about a new product or service.

For businesses that are seasonal, this type of marketing can be used to build up anticipation of upcoming holidays and promotions.

For professional services companies, email marketing is a great way to keep clients informed. For example, an accountant can use email marketing to keep their clients informed about changes in the tax law that will affect their business and to provide tips and useful information throughout the year.

Should email marketing be combined with a promotion?

Yes. There’s nothing wrong with sending customers an informational email to stay in touch with them, but emails with an offer or a promotion will dramatically increase customer engagement and conversions.

Promotions are a great way to keep customers coming back to your website, especially when combined with a promotion where winners are posted on the website.

Promotions can also be combined with social media marketing, giving the business even wider exposure throughout and after the promotion.

How often should a business send out emails?

This is a great question, Phillip. My rule of thumb is that emails should be frequent enough to keep your customers aware and informed, but not too frequent that they become annoying.

Personally, I don’t like to receive more than one email per week from a business, unless I have subscribed to blog or a resource where I am getting technical tips or business information that I need.
